For those who want to add a hint of nostalgia to their wedding sand ceremony, the Mr. & Mrs. Sixty color palette by Sharon Vaz brings an element of ‘60s style to the wedding celebration. Certainly, it is a bold choice – but one that is in keeping with the bridal couple who want to place their unique stamp on the world. Mr. & Mrs. Sixty is a breath of fresh air for those striving to create something new and different in their wedding festivities.

The color mood is playful and romantic – perfect for a voyage back to the decade of love, peace, and harmony. The color scheme complements the wedding color themes of white, pink, light blue, and grey, so it is appropriate for a variety of nuptial festivities. Because the seven-layer palette is designed for six participants, it is highly suitable for blended family ceremonies.

Specifically, the palette consists of the following color themes:

Aqua blue, symbolizing the fountain of everlasting love;

Oasis blue, signifying the ultimate depth of commitment;

Ivory, indicating a lightness of being and a spirit of togetherness;

Pastel pink, showing that the “fun-in” lives – ‘60s style; and

Lavender, conveying ‘60s serenity with a playful streak.

If you’re in interested in recreating my Mr. & Mrs. Sixty sand ceremony palette design, you may purchase the Heart Shaped Unity Sand Ceremony Set and Unity Sand online.

There are many reasons to turn to the ‘60s for inspiration for a wedding sand ceremony. For one thing, the decade symbolized peace, understanding, and freedom – concepts which still hold appeal today. In addition, the ‘60s brings to mind an idealistic, less complicated time, when all manner of progressive change seemed a possibility. The Age of Aquarius was a time of bold vision – something that a bridal couple would love to celebrate in their unity sand ceremony.

Taking a Cue from ‘60s Fashion for Your Unity Sand Ceremony

For such a sand ceremony, it seems appropriate to incorporate ‘60s-style wedding fashion. For instance, for bridesmaids, hair could be styled in French twists or piled into small bee hives. Bridesmaid outfits could take the form of tea-length scoop neck silk shantung dress in a shade like Watermelon or Guava. Accessories could include a crystal vintage gemstone pin and matching Lux Chiffon Flower colored headband in fuchsia or Tutti Fruti.

As for the bride a vintage lace gown with long lace gloves would be a great option. If she wants to opt for a more daring look she can choose a short satin tea length dress accessorized with dangling chain earrings with pearl drops and short lace gloves.

Alternatively, a great shorter dress option is a baby doll style dress. Shoes for the shorter look could be either platform shoes, matching ivory pumps or a silver metallic pump. A scoop neck and short lace sleeves are great details to look for in the vintage lace gown. The best shoe choice with the vintage gown would with a classic pump shoe.

If the bride needs something “blue” in keeping with tradition she could dye the shoe a shade of blue from your color palette, if it works with her bridal party color choices and her choice of flowers. A Brigitte Bardot updo, with half of her hair falling below her shoulders would add a retro ‘60s touch.

Sixties-inspired accessories for the sand ceremony can include side brooches on swoop necklines, Tiffany charm bracelets, double-strand pearl necklaces and clutches like this Elegant Quilted Purse in Matte Satin. For the groom and groomsmen, hair can be side-parted and slicked back, while the wedding wear can either be white for summer or tightly-fitted black tuxedos with skinny black or boldly colored matching ties.

Meanwhile, the accessories for the reception can also take on a ‘60s vibe. For a bold look that will definitely be noticed, the bride can choose the “A Kiss and We’re Off” cake topper attractively customized with decorative flowers colored to match the bridesmaids’ dress color.

Also, a great idea for a 60’s style wedding favor that does double-duty are the adorable “Mini-Martini Glasses.” For a nostalgic tone, the martini glasses can be filled with popular 60’s candies like Good & Plenty.

To help guests capture your special moment, place the retro-looking “Single Use Camera-Vintage Design” camera at each table to help set the mood and keep guests saying “cheese!” all night long.

Every bride and groom want their wedding festivities to be special, symbolizing their unique personalities and tastes. By selecting Mr. & Mrs. Sixty as their sand ceremony color palette, the bridal couple inject a memorable sense of ‘60s style and sensibility to their ceremony. By celebrating the unique beauty and allure of the ‘60s in their sand ceremony, the wedding couple celebrates their own signature style as husband and wife.

There are certain songs that transport you to a different time – a time when treasured memories were made and dreams realized. That’s the experience I had when I heard the mega-hit “Garden Party,” by Mezzoforte, the instrumental jazz-funk fusion band from Iceland. And, with that melody in mind, I created the sand ceremony color palette Garden Party by Sharon Vaz.

Capturing a tranquil, romantic mood, the seven-layer Garden Party is perfect for a blended family sand ceremony with six participants. Whether you’re planning your sand ceremony for the beach or for the garden, this color palette adds vibrancy to your festivities.

Each unity sand color has been carefully selected to play a particular role in the sand ceremony. For instance, the mixture of moss green, apple green, and classic green symbolize an affinity with nature and new beginnings. Meanwhile, oasis blue, a vibrant teal color, enhances the sand ceremony with a touch of glamour and sophistication.

The intriguing combination of white and pastel pink express the inner child within us who savors the simple pleasures in life: eating ice cream, playing in water, chasing butterflies.

The whimsical color combination reminds the bride and groom that, no matter how complex and challenging married life might be, they should hold onto the childlike wonder which enables them to laugh at life’s absurdities.

I believe garden weddings are becoming increasingly popular because they combine the allure of nature with the coziness of home and hearth – they are a reminder of the simple elegance of a carefully-picked floral display. Such intimate weddings celebrate the elements of beauty and a sense of togetherness in the marriage ceremony – a goal that can also be achieved through a unity sand ceremony held in a garden locale.

Accessorizing Your Unity Sand Ceremony

You can also enhance your unity sand ceremony through the use of fabulous wedding accessories. For instance, your sand ceremony will take on an air of elegance with a set of Ornamental Dragon Fly with Jewels Toasting Flutes. These breathtakingly beautiful glasses are decorated with dragonflies adorned with jewels and lovely vines and flowers. A garden party-themed sand ceremony can also be accented with Miniature Metal Garden Watering Cans; these adorable wedding favors can hold flowers that you’ll use to decorate your reception tables. Such wedding favors can easily become a favorite of the guests who have come to share in your happiness.

Similarly, the Butterfly Wedding Stationery Table Number Holder offers a classic design for holding not only table numbers, but also place cards and escort cards. The holders add the loveliness of springtime to your reception. You can also add to the garden theme with foil printed personalized Beautiful Butterflies Printed Napkins, which add a distinctive touch to your wedding festivities.

Don’t Miss the Opportunity

If you long for a memorable way to commemorate your marriage vows, my Garden Party sand ceremony color palette is the perfect keepsake for your special day. Long after your wedding, you will possess a priceless heirloom that you can pass on to your children and grandchildren, marking the day when you and your spouse became one.

For the couple who adore the romance and beauty of France, Midnight in Paris by Sharon Vaz is the perfect addition to your upcoming sand ceremony. The color mood is both playful and romantic, and will put you instantly in touch with the best that Paris has to offer. This seven-layer palette is designed for six participants and is appropriate for blended family sand ceremonies.

By adding this color palette to your sand ceremony, you can expertly complement wedding color themes of white, pink, champagne, and orange. You will be conveying a message of understated French elegance through the combination of pastel pink, chocolate, moon shadow, and ivory. You may purchase the wedding sand used to create this palette here.

The love and passion you hold in your heart for your future spouse are expressed through the combination of dark pink and tangerine – colors which also convey the happiness of your wedding celebration.

The French-inspired sand ceremony calls to mind the special appeal of Paris. Even if you cannot travel to France for your honeymoon, you will be transported there in spirit by the grandeur of your sand ceremony.

The little French touches you add to your sand ceremony will be a gift not only to your beloved, but to all who participate in your special day.

Adding More French Elegance to Your Sand Ceremony

Ornamental Wire Stationery Holders – Tall

The Midnight in Paris color palette is only one aspect of your unity sand ceremony. You can build upon the French theme by adding a number of Paris-inspired accessories. For instance, the Ornamental Wire Stationery Holders (Tall) will put you instantly in mind of a French bistro, thanks to its exquisite design.

Meanwhile, the Small Wire Crown Embellishment in Matte Black is reminiscent of French royalty with its rich, regal appearance.

You can also add a touch of whimsy to your unity sand ceremony with “The Look of Love” Bride and Groom Couple Figurine. The bride and groom gaze into each other’s eyes with the kind of intensity that is associated with a night in Paris. The French theme can also be expertly displayed with the Laser Expressions Love Bird Damask Folded Place Card, which is symbolic of the type of romantic artwork that Paris is famous for

Elegant Vintage Rose Toasting Flutes

And who could resist a toast with the Elegant Vintage Rose Toasting Flutes? These antique-looking glasses add a French vintage appeal to your wedding reception. To add a festive flair to your wedding, why not try a Chocolate & Strawberry Cream Square Ring Pillow? The satin elegance of the pillow calls to mind the best of Parisian fabrics, and the combination of chocolate and strawberry cream is reminiscent of the most delicious French confections.

Similarly, the Beautiful Butterfly Filigree Paper Cupcake Wrappers add a scrumptious French flavor to your wedding festivities.

The French Connection

Small Wire Crown Embellishment in Matte Black

Your romance may not have blossomed under the Eiffel Tower, but your personal love story had all the elements of a great French film. It is therefore fitting that you should turn to the city of romance to provide the theme for your wedding and sand ceremony.

When you invest in the Midnight in Paris color palette, along with the many French accessories that are available, you will be incorporating the best of French elegance and allure into your special celebration. You will also be gathering keepsakes that you and your family will treasure for decades to come.

This engaging color palette is extremely versatile, complementing the wedding color themes of white, blue, and purple.

Brings Eternal Love to Your Sand Ceremony

Immortal Love embodies the strength, beauty, and passion of eternal love. By embracing the core values of this color palette, the bridal couple displays a quiet confidence in one another, even in times of intense conflict when they appear to fail or disappoint one another. Through both good times and bad, the couple express the abiding optimism that God will be their guiding Light in wisdom and truth. Relying on their Almighty Power, they can find their way back to each other again with a renewed hope and sense of purpose.

The Meaning Behind the Colors

Each of the colors used in the sand ceremony demonstrates a special significance. The royal purple symbolizes the special covenant relationship of Christian marriage. The bride and the groom pledge their unending fidelity, unconditional love, and forgiveness. The couple also promise to offer comfort and hope to each other through the tidalwaves of life.

Meanwhile, the oasis blue in the sand ceremony represents commitment, something that is so essential to the marriage bond. The aqua symbolizes a reservoir of hope which can nourish the relationship in the darkest days. The purple in the sand ceremony embodies the God-Centeredness of the marital union, showing that the marriage begins and ends with an allegiance to Christ. The lovely champagne hue represents wisdom, which is so essential to a happy married life. Finally, the pastel pink of the unity sand ceremony symbolizes the Divine Peace which surpasses all human understanding and which can only be achieved through an on-going dialogue between the couple and God.

The Immortal Love color palette demonstrates the abiding force of committed love, championing the forgiving attitude which is so necessary for a fulfilled life. The colors encourage the couple to fix their eyes on God and His goodness, with a quiet confidence and trust in Him to work wonders in their marriage.

The color palette in this sand ceremony works especially well with bouquets including purple and white veranda orchids, blue hydrangeas, “Calla” lilies, “Akito” roses, Hyachintus orientalis “Anna Marie” (hyacinth), “Ocean Song” roses, “Reagan White” chrysanthemum and purple freesias.

By embracing Immortal Love, you will add to your unity sand ceremony a sense of strength which is key to building an impenetrable foundation for your marriage. The sand ceremony helps to set the stage for a long-lasting, healthy and peaceful marriage, and involves the members of your extended family in your union.

The celebration of a marriage is one of the greatest experiences in life, as it mirrors the relationship of God with His people. One of the most touching ways to mark the beginning of married life together is through the unity sand ceremony. However, the ceremony, at its best, does not simply signify the union of two people, but the unification of two families. Since the primary appeal of the unity sand ceremony is the unity dimension, it is altogether fitting that several people should take part in the festivities.

The ceremony is also an opportunity to recognize those specific individuals who have played an instrumental role in the couple’s lives, offering much-needed support and counsel.

In addition, when a group of individuals participate in the ceremony, the center vase becomes a multi-colored family heirloom. When only bride and groom perform the ceremony, the palette is limited to two colors, but when additional individuals are introduced, the vase takes on a dramatic range of colors. From a visual perspective, six or seven color layers are really best. With each distinct layer, the couple celebrates their core values, hopes, aspirations, and dreams.

We can also look to sacred Scripture to find additional reasons for including a significant number of participants in the unity sand ceremony. The Bible places great metaphorical meaning on numbers – think of the one, true God; the three Persons in one God; the Ten Commandments; the seventh day as a day of rest.

Number 5. You may not realize it, but the number five in Biblical terms connotes grace and redemption, basic tenets of the Christian faith. Five also serves to signify freedom and completeness – perfect concepts for a unity sand ceremony.

Number 6. Meanwhile, the number six symbolizes man and the ideal of completeness. Six can also be used to explain the ongoing struggle between the spirit and the flesh. This is fitting, since marriage enables spirit and flesh to come together in a powerful union.

Number 7. Of course, seven is considered to be a holy number, used to describe spiritual perfection and completeness. It is also an indicator of the special covenant that exists between man and his God – similar to the covenant which exists between husband and wife.

Number 8. Interestingly enough, eight signifies strength – an important concept when dealing with the spiritual life. Eight is also a symbol of fertility and new beginnings – an appropriate number for a unity sand ceremony recognizing the union of man and woman in holy matrimony.

Thus, by including five, six, seven, or eight participants in your sand ceremony, you are telling the world something important – not only about your family, but about your spiritual beliefs. Your ceremony takes on special meaning, since it celebrates not only the physical union of marriage, but the spiritual union of families as well.

Through the unity sand ceremony, you might find that, not only does your faith grow, but the faith of the members of your family is enhanced as well. This demonstrates both the power and the promise of the unity sand ceremony.

The unity sand ceremony enables a bridal couple to celebrate the joy of their blessed union. But it can also honor the bride and groom’s hopes and dreams, not only for themselves, but for all humanity. It is in this spirit that the Peacemaker sand ceremony palette by Sharon Vaz was created.

I intend with this tranquil color palette to honor the peacemakers of the world. Peacemakers face great challenges in our time, as wars rage throughout the earth. Misunderstandings and strife abound. The peacemaker serves as the hero, creating unity where divisions have reigned supreme.

This unique color palette complements wedding themes of white, light blue, silver, and brown. The seven-layer palette is appropriate for six participants; therefore, it is highly recommended for a blended family sand ceremony.

By using the Peacemaker palette in their sand ceremony, the couple honors various aspects of peace-making. Each color highlights one specific attribute of peacemaking. In this way, the entire sand ceremony becomes a peacemaking celebration.

What Do the Hues in the Peacemaker Palette Symbolize?

The foundational layer is aqua, symbolizing a reservoir of peace and a deep sense of tranquility. The peacemaker draws upon this reservoir of peace as an internal resource that aids in ministry to individuals in conflict. We are reminded of the “rivers of living water” found in John 7:13 in the New American Standard Bible, which states, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From this innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”

The chocolate brown in the sand ceremony signals the pursuit of truth. The peacemaker allows individuals to come to terms with their hurts and fears – the deep pain which is the residue from traumatic events. By pursuing truth, the peacemaker restores order and stability. Meanwhile, moon shadow denotes the resilience found in many effective peacemakers. In the face of opposition from people they are counseling or mediating, peacemakers stand firm, yet serene.

Perhaps most importantly, the white in the sand ceremony palette embodies forgiveness. The Bible speaks constantly of the need to forgive – no matter what the offense. We are called to forgive not just occasionally, but every day. Christianity teaches us that forgiveness is the key to emotional healing and unity among believers. It is the calming salve that heals our deepest hurts.

The pastel pink in the sand ceremony represents the gentle spirit of the peacemaker, despite the messy situations and conflict which rule the world. The soft whisper of the peacemaker can soothe the noisy chaos that often threatens our serenity. Tangerine demonstrates the power of God’s abundant grace, as seen in the peacemaker’s response to life’s difficulties. The glow of the tangerine symbolizes the peacemaker’s bright light shining in a lost and hurting world.

The Peacemaker palette works well with bouquets containing “aqua” roses, Hyachintus orientalis “Anna Marie” (hyacinth), white peonies, white hydrangeas, soft blue hydrangeas and orange calla lillies.

Peacemakers everywhere should embrace the Peacemaker color palette, for it speaks to their deepest desires. It creates a treasured keepsake which immortalizes not only a marriage, but the life of the peacemaker. It is a stirring reminder of the miracles that the peacemaker can work – not just in one community, but in the world at large.

Happily Ever After by Sharon Vaz is a romantic sand ceremony color palette that brings all the magic of a fairy tale to life. Perfect for a blended family sand ceremony, this unique palette will definitely appeal to the children in the family. The seven-layer palette is appropriate for six participants, so every key member of the wedding party can take part.

I created Happily Ever After as a homage to Cinderella, Snow White, and all those other fairy tale characters who end up living happily ever after with their prince. Even the modern bride appreciates the captivating story line of a fairy tale and she secretly wants to live out the role of princess-heroine.

Every bride wants to be cherished and adored by her life partner; every wife-to-be longs for a romance without end. A fairy tale fulfills our great need to see good triumphing over evil and love conquering all. In fairy tales, we find our ultimate wish fulfillment These are timeless stories of endless love and affection; the unity sand ceremony allows brides to live out the story line themselves.

The apple green in the palette expresses a deep sense of hope, while the white represents the faith that the couple has about their future together in spite of numerous challenges and opposition. The purple, which is traditionally known for its association with wealth and opulence, symbolizes the life that the couple can forge together after the sand ceremony – a life rich in love and affection. The purple also represents the permanence of the marital union – long after the sand ceremony has taken place. The pastel pink and dark pink represent the overwhelming love that the bride and groom share – the exotic shades are a testament to their lasting commitment.

The Happily Ever After color palette works well with bouquets containing the following flowers: “Aqua” roses, Hyachintus orientalis “Anna Marie” (hyacincht), “Akito” roses, “Laminuette” roses, “Milano” roses, and white calla lilies.

Brides who love the vintage look will cherish the Vibrant Vintage Rose sand ceremony color palette by Sharon Vaz. I deliberately created this design with darker accents such as berry and purple to help anchor the color palette by providing contrast. I believe that the biggest mistake a bride could make with her sand ceremony planning would be to attempt to create a vintage palette using only pastel colored sand. In such a case, the shades would simply blend into one another, losing the symbolism of the individuality of the participants.

A wildly romantic sand ceremony palette for the stylish bride

The color mood of Vibrant Vintage Rose is decidedly romantic, and it complements the wedding color themes of white, pink, purple, and red. Purple is considered the new blue, adding a luxurious feel to the palette. Throughout time, purple has been associated with richness and royalty, so it is a perfect shade for this color palette. In addition, dark pink is a hot color for 2011 weddings. Its vibrancy adds flair to the color palette along with a chic, fashionable feeling.

This seven-layer sand ceremony palette is designed for six participants, so it is perfect for blended families who want to demonstrate their bond of love. They will feel their unity strengthened as a result of participating in the unity sand ceremony.

It should be noted that the Vibrant Vintage Rose color palette is not meant for a bride with understated taste. It does, however, appeal to the bride who enjoys vibrant art and exceptional beauty – the kind of woman who can light up a room with her flamboyant personality and exquisite taste in fashion.

For this kind of bride, each day is a celebration of life and she achieves much joy and fulfillment in expressing this through her impeccable sense of style.

So it would hardly be a surprise that this bride would celebrate her wedding day with a dazzling display of color, textures, high fashion, romance, and exquisite cuisine. She is no wallflower, and the most important celebration of her life reflects that. She is bold in vision and optimistic in her view of life and the love she will share with her husband. Every detail of her special day is alive with Technicolor hues, from the sand in her unity sand ceremony vase to the flowers she carries in her bouquet.

This particular color palette works well with bouquets containing “Aqua” roses, Hyachintus orientalis, “Anna Marie” (hyacinth), “Akito” roses, “Laminuette” roses, “Milano” roses and white calla lilies.

For the modern bride and groom who still have a fascination with the old-fashioned, the Vintage Royal Wedding sand ceremony color palette by Sharon Vaz offers the perfect mix of the trendy and traditional.

The pastel shades of lavender and light blue that I used for this sand ceremony palette are ideal for vintage weddings; yet, the purple and tangerine orange accents add a contemporary feel. The color mood is both dramatic and romantic and complements wedding color themes of light blue, white, and all shades of purple.

Add a royal touch to your sand ceremony and boost the wow factor!

Since purple is associated with the concepts of royalty, wealth, power, and opulence, this palette symbolizes regal authority – an appropriate theme for 2011. Both the purple and the tangerine are considered particularly hot colors this year. This six-layer palette is designed for five participants; therefore, this is an ideal sand ceremony palette for blended families who are hoping through the wedding ceremony to become united in love.

There is deep meaning within the Vintage Royal Wedding color palette. For the colors convey traditional core values such as commitment, quality, and consistency. Yet, the modern look of this sand ceremony palette can also symbolize progressive values such as innovation and personal evolution.

Marriages fail when couples do not allow one another the space to evolve, accusing each other of changing like the wind. A more realistic mindset is to see our lives as a journey of transformation allowing both the man and the woman to grow, even make mistakes. The emphasis is on acceptance and cherishing one another through the peaks and valleys of life.

For Christians, life’s journey is meant to be a road of personal transformation in which one strives to be Christ-like in thought and behavior. We learn to be salt and light to one another, bringing beautiful change to our world and to ourselves.

The bride and the groom work to support positive change in one another’s lives, trusting that God will give them the eyes of faith, to see life the way He does. Often a paradigm shift is all that is necessary to bring the light of Christ into our lives and to transform our sorrow into celebration.

This sand ceremony color palette is perfect for bouquets which contain the “Reagan White” chrysanthemum, Hyachintus orientalis “Mont Blanc” (hyacinth), “Akito” roses, Easter Lilies and white calla lillies.

The Unity Sand Ceremony is a lovely way to help establish the bond of matrimony. It is highly symbolic, showing how two individuals can merge their lives into one. It is also visually stunning, creating a memento which can stand the test of time. But how do you ensure that your unity sand ceremony is all that it should be?

An important point to realize is that you can make mistakes in your ceremony – mistakes that could seriously jeopardize the joy of the day. If you know ahead of time which mistakes to avoid, you’re well on your way to creating a ceremony that will be every bit as lovely as the bride.

One of the biggest blunders you can make is thinking exclusively in black and white. Often, couples choose black and white as their official wedding colors, and there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, such a color combination can add an element of elegance to the proceedings.

The mistake comes when brides and grooms carry over the black-and-white theme to their unity sand ceremony. While black sand and white sand may look perfectly lovely individually, when the couple combine the two in the final sand layer, the result is a gray speckled mess.

Not only does this detract from the beauty of the ceremony; it also creates a photographic nightmare. When your photographer attempts to take a picture of the unity sand ceremony vase, the photograph which emerges will be most noteworthy for its lack of visual appeal.

If black and white are your wedding colors, your best course of action is to use black or white for either the bride’s layer or groom’s layer – but not both. That way, you can include at least one of your theme colors in your unity sand ceremony, creating a lovely display that can be treasured year in and year out.

Alternatively, you could assign the second color (black or white) to another participant in your unity sand ceremony. This is a clever way to sneak in that second color – and still achieve your black-and-white theme in your sand design – without jeopardizing the aesthetics. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out. (:
