How to Look Simply Stunning on Your Wedding Day! What’s Sizzling Hot in Wedding Fashion Trends for 2010
Wedding Trends — By Sharon VazPlanning your wedding for 2010? If so, you are probably wondering about the fashion trends and color schemes that are currently very much in vogue. Gone are the times for the simple whites (although see below for a super idea on how you can still wear a white gown to great effect) or the pastel shades of green and of lilac – at least for the time being, anyhow.
This year we are talking bold, we are talking bright, and by all means you can add in a few other pastel colors to this mix also. Think vibrant reds for wedding gowns and bold turquoise accents. Let’s have a look at some of the top color schemes for this year, 2010.

Wedding gowns? If you want to make a really bold statement and your own character is perhaps leaning towards that of being loud and central stage on every occasion, then you may be happy to learn that black is still very much leading the way with current trends. Although black was popular on the Paris walkways a couple of years back, its still very much the in-thing. Consider black with lace and pearl embellishments – a great choice for the very fashion-conscious bride! Or, why not think about a white dress with black piping or perhaps black embroidery. Now, don’t you think that would create a stir in the church on your special day?
In fact, right now the big thing is for a romantic inclination and princess-like adornment, where the whole skirt or even the whole gown is decorated with cascades of netting and tulle. Those types of sheer fabrics merely add texture and a beautiful sense of fairytale-like qualities. Pure and simple!
Okay, we’ve discussed black wedding gowns, and about black on white. What about another color that will get them all talking? Red! Red gowns are also top league in the current fashion trends of 2010. Go for brighter shades with large satin sashes and big bows for added embellishment. Or how about a bright red gown with black piping which will provide that oh so hot look!
If black or red simply does not fit well with your demeanor, then how about that of bright yellows – lemon yellow being a superb choice, bright greens such as the stunningly fresh apple green, oranges like tangy tangerine orange or perhaps peach or berry tones? These beautiful colors are helping to dominate trends of the current year, particularly with those weddings that are scheduled for this springtime or the summer.
If you settle for lemon yellow, tangerine orange or peach, then be sure to avoid pastel colored embellishments. Instead go for bold, go for bright, go with the current fashion. You will find that for outdoor weddings, these colors work incredibly well – beach weddings for example, or tropical-themed weddings, if you will.
Here are a number of other groovy colors that are currently also topping the trends: purples (very popular!), aquas, turquoises, aurora, pinks and hot pinks, navy blues, light blues, mauves and magentas, silvers, grays, tuscany, corals and cobalt blues. All are really hot in the wedding fashion world. Pick your own favorite, you simply can’t go wrong!
How about bridal jewelry? Inspiration for bridal trends in 2010 is coming from mainstream fashion world and statement jewelry is all the rage. Here we are talking large necklaces, long strings of large pearls and also flowing stylish earrings to match. We are talking oversized gemstones and glistening sequins – all will create that much-desired impact.
And shoes? This one is easy – bolder-is-better! High-impact is everything. Go for bright oranges, hot pinks, dazzling reds or you could instead go for black with a hint of turquoise.
Also big for 2010 is that of hair accessories and of birdcage veils. Anything from elegant headbands to intricate fascinators, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing them in the aisles this year! Vintage-look birdcage veils can combine together a feathered or jeweled-clip headpiece with netting that covers only the face. This sort of veil adds dramatic glamor while at the same time can really look fun and is much less hassle than when wearing a full length traditional bridal veil. For further inspiration you need look no further than two of the hottest celebrity brides of last year – Carly Zucker and Suzanne Shaw.
